This policy explains what information avelgrid collects through this website, why, and the choices you have.

In short

  • We only collect what you send us through our enquiry form or by contacting us, plus basic technical data needed to run the site.
  • Our site and form are hosted by Netlify, so your enquiry may be stored in the United States.
  • No analytics, no tracking cookies, and we never sell your information.
  • You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time.

01Who we are

avelgrid (“avelgrid”, “we” or “us”) is a software company in Toronto, Ontario, Canada that builds, hosts and maintains websites for businesses. We are responsible for the personal information we collect, and our Privacy Officer is accountable for this policy (see Contact us).

This policy covers our website, our enquiry form, and any other way you contact us. It does not cover websites we build for clients, which follow our clients’ own privacy policies.

02What we collect

Through the enquiry form: the service you’re interested in, your first and last name and your email address (all required), plus your business name, type of business, phone number and message if you choose to give them. We need the required fields to reply to you. Please don’t include passwords, payment details or other sensitive information.

When you contact us directly: your contact details and what you send us by email or phone. If you become a client, we also keep the contracts, invoices and project materials needed to provide our services.

Automatically: like any website, our host Netlify records standard technical information when you visit or submit the form, such as your IP address, browser, device, the pages you request and the time. It is used only to deliver and secure the website and to filter spam.

What we don’t collect: we don’t use analytics, advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we don’t take payments through the website.

03How we use it

We use your information only to:

  • reply to your enquiry and prepare any quote or proposal you ask for;
  • provide, support and bill for our services if you become a client;
  • run and secure our website, including blocking spam and abuse; and
  • keep the records the law requires.

By sending an enquiry or contacting us, you consent to this use. We won’t use your information for anything else, or send you marketing emails, without your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us, though we may then be unable to respond to your enquiry.

04Netlify and the enquiry form

Our website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. and our enquiry form runs on Netlify Forms. When you submit the form:

  1. your submission is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to Netlify;
  2. Netlify checks it for spam, using a hidden spam-trap field and the Akismet spam filter (a service of Automattic Inc.);
  3. Netlify stores the submission in our account and emails it to our business inbox; and
  4. only our team can see it, through that inbox and our password-protected Netlify account.

Netlify is based in the United States and stores data there and in other countries, so your information may be stored outside Canada and be subject to the laws of those countries. Netlify handles it only on our behalf under its data processing terms, and we remain responsible for it.

05Who we share it with

We never sell, rent or trade your information, or share it for advertising. We share it only with:

  • service providers that help us run the business: Netlify, our email provider, and accountants or lawyers bound by confidentiality;
  • authorities, when the law requires it; or
  • a buyer or successor, if our business is sold or merged, under the same protections as this policy.

06Cookies

Our website uses no cookies. It saves one setting, avelgrid-intro, in your browser’s session storage so the opening animation plays only once per visit. It holds no personal information and is deleted when you close the tab. Because we don’t track you, our site behaves the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.

07How long we keep it, and how we protect it

  • Enquiries that don’t lead to work: kept only as long as necessary to respond and follow up, then deleted from Netlify and our inbox. Spam is deleted promptly.
  • Client records: kept for up to seven years after our work ends, for tax and legal reasons.
  • Server logs: kept by Netlify for a short period under its standard practices.

We protect your information with encrypted connections, strong authentication on the accounts that hold it, and access limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

08Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, receive a copy, or have it deleted. You can also withdraw your consent or make a complaint. Depending on where you live (for example Quebec, the EU or the UK), you may have further rights under local law, and we will honour them.

Email your request to hello@avelgrid.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We respond within 30 days, free of charge, and will explain in writing if we can’t fulfil a request.

09Children

Our website and services are for businesses. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16, and will delete it if we learn we have.

10Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and post a notice on our website for any significant change.
